A digital archive of maps of the New Orleans area made between 1867-1970. These were created by fire insurance companies to assess the risk of various properties in the area. Maps such as these are useful in locating early addresses, as they list the street blocks and building numbers as they existed at the time each particular map was created.
KnowLA is a comprehensive, dynamic online reference guide to the history and culture of Louisiana. The encyclopedia is accessible to anyone with a web-enabled device, free of charge.
The Louisiana Historical Association publishes a variety of literature related to Louisiana history, including its quarterly journal, Louisiana History. The LHA also hosts the annual state historical conference every Spring.

The Louisiana State Archives maintains a large multimedia collection, including footage from a variety of local television stations in the New Orleans area such as WWL and WDSU. A significant amount of this film has been digitized and indexed, and researchers are free to search the multimedia archives online.
