Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Programs
VITA offers free tax assistance to individuals who meet certain qualifications. Volunteers help prepare basic income tax returns for low-income taxpayers or those with special needs such as the elderly, non-English speaking persons, and persons with disabilities.

- Louisiana State University, Paul H. Herbert Law CenterThe LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center offers a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program where law student volunteers provide free tax preparation services for federal and state income taxes to foreign students, teachers and researchers that qualify as non-resident taxpayers. Individuals who have F, J, M, or Q visas are eligible for assistance.
- Loyola University - New Orleans - School of LawLoyola University New Orleans' College of Law offers free tax preparation annually to low-to-moderate-income clients through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. The Internal Revenue Service-designed program is offered from February through April, with sessions staffed by volunteers three days per week.
