!! NEW LINK TO GETACARD !!
The NOPL upgraded its system, that's why the first link stopped working.
Try this link to request a NOPL Library card: https://neworleans.polarislibrary.com/logon.aspx?header=1
Orleans Parish residents who don’t have a Library account can sign up for a temporary one and can access almost all of our e-Resources.
UNO students qualify to get a NOPL borrower card!
Once you have your virtual NOPL Library card, locate databases on the NOPL website and login to the Lynda/LinkedIn Learning database.
FYI - LYNDA is now Linkedin Learning
Send your supervisor a screenshot that shows you are logged into LYNDA.
Your NOPL library card will give you access to LYNDA/LinkedIn Learning.
PLEASE NOTE - THE COURSES LISTED TO THE SIDE ARE FREE FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL. YOU DO NOT NEED A NEW ORLEANS PUBLIC LIBRARY CARD NOR DO YOU NEED TO REGISTER FOR THE 1-MONTH FREE TRIAL. CLICK ON THE LINK TO THE TUTORIAL AND IT WILL BEGIN PLAYING. USE THE RIGHT SIDEBAR TO VIEW ALL THE CONTENT. IF YOU CAN USE YOUR NOPL LIBRARY CARD TO LOGIN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE THE QUIZZES AND THE FINAL TEST AT THE END. YOU WILL THEN RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION. IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO LOGIN WITH YOUR NOPL LIBRARY CARD, TAKE A SCREENSHOT OF THE END OF THE TUTORIAL ALONG WITH A WRITTEN SUMMARY OF THE CONTENT OF THE TUTORIAL TO SHOW YOUR SUPERVISOR YOU COMPLETED THIS TASK. BELOW IS WHAT YOU SHOULD SEE IN THE FIRST TUTORIAL. |
The training videos listed below are from the LYNDA/LinkedIn Learning Database
1. Watch each training video
2. Send a screenshot at the end of the tutorial to your supervisor. If you are able to get your NOPL Library card and login to LYNDA/LinkedIn Learning using your library card, you can take quizzes and complete the final test at the end of each tutorial to get a certificate of completion.
2. Write a one paragraph summary of what you learned for each training video.
There are 9 training videos. Each one lasting 1 hour. You may want to watch some multiple times to really learn the material.
At a minimum you will need 1 hour to watch the video and 1 hour to write your summary.
It will take you a minimum of 18 hours to complete all of these training videos.
Please note the clarification from Emily at Linkedin Learning. You do not need to sign up for a free trial!
Hi Lora,
Although it appears to be the case when you click into one of the courses, your faculty and staff will not need to sign up for the one-month trial. The entire list of courses I sent you is unlocked for both LinkedIn members and nonmembers. The “start my 1-month free trial” button, that I believe they are referring to and appears in the course landing page, is there in case individuals would like to trial the broader library of 15,000+ courses. However, please notify them that this is not the case for any of the free courses I sent along.
Kindly,
Emily
