Employment Opportunity at the Earl K. Long Library




Position Summary:

Monitors the Library building week nights Sunday through Thursday from 11 pm to 8 am (average 24 hours per week during the regular semesters); report building maintenance issues to Facilities Services/Sodexo, report security issues to Campus Police, and supervises evening/night student workers.


  • Responsible for maintaining a library atmosphere
  • Responsible for the safety of students and the building in case of emergency
  • Supervises evening/night student workers and provides input for yearly evaluation
  • Reports cleaning, building maintenance, and safety issues to Library Administration

Required Qualifications:

High School/GED

Applicants should be responsible and self-motivated with good interpersonal skills and good references.  Reliability is crucial.

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of related library public services or relevant work experience.


Shifts (assigned shifts will be based on the needs of the Library)

Sundays overnights

7:30 pm - 1:30 am                   1:30 am – 7:30 am

8:00 pm - 2:00 am                   2:00 am – 8:00 am


Mondays through Thursdays overnights

10:30 pm – 3:00 am                3:00 am – 7:30 am

11:00 pm – 3:30 am                3:30 am – 8:00 am
