The single most important educational data resource in the United States, NCES is the statistical data arm of the US Department of Education, and the central clearinghouse for statistical information about education of all types.

The Digest includes a selection of data from many sources, both government and private, and draws especially on the results of surveys and activities carried out by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

Here you can search for statewide information in elementary/secondary education, postsecondary education and selected demographics for all states in the U.S. based on data collected and maintained by the National Center for Education Statistics. Besides being able to get state data you will also get data on U.S. averages and the ability to graph the results.

BESE was established by the 1974 Louisiana Constitution. The Board is composed of 11 members: eight elected by the citizens of Louisiana’s eight BESE districts, and three appointed by the governor of Louisiana to represent the state at-large. Together, these members adopt and enact policies governing the elementary and secondary schools of Louisiana.

The Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education has the constitutional and statutory authority to make policy decisions that govern the public education system of the state. It also exercises budgetary responsibility for all funds appropriated or allocated by the state for schools under its jurisdiction. Acting in its capacity as a quasi-legislative body, the Board adopts policies and regulatory rules which have the force and effect of law. The regulatory policies adopted by the Board are contained in the bulletins compiled by the Department of Education or BESE.
