Library Classroom Use: Policy

Library Classroom Use/Reservation Policy

The Library’s Instruction Classroom and Information Literacy Classroom (rooms 212 and 431) are designated primarily for library-related instruction purposes where the class is taught by a faculty librarian in consultation with another teaching faculty member or for a Library for- credit class. The demand for these rooms can exceed their availability so the use of these rooms is governed by the following policies:

First priority is given to Library faculty and staff teaching information literacy instruction coordinated with teaching faculty and/or library for-credit classes.

Library staff may request these rooms for any library-related business.

Teaching faculty may request use of these classrooms for non-library initiated or non-library related course integrated sessions that require the use of computers. Requests must be made at least three (3) business day in prior to date needed for the session. This will ensure that needed technology support is available for the requested time. Same day requests cannot be honored. In order to ensure that the classrooms are available for information literacy instruction and library related business, requests for other uses will not be booked more then 3-5 days in advance of the request.

The rooms may also be used for other non-instruction-related meetings in which one or more library staff is present. Examples are: meetings of committees, task forces, or professional organizations that a library employee is working with to fulfill any part of his/her primary job or research and service responsibilities. Faculty and staff will complete the non-instructional meeting request form to request the use of these rooms.

In order to ensure that the classrooms are available for information literacy instruction and library related business, requests for other uses will not be booked more then 3-5 days in advance of the request.

In the spirit of sharing limited resources, meeting requests from campus faculty and staff that do not meet of the above stated uses will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Requests must be made at least three (3) business days prior to date needed for the session. This will ensure that needed technology support is available for the requested time. Same day requests cannot be honored.

The Library Quiet Computer Lab (room 424) is for student use only. Only Library faculty may reserve this lab to provide library instruction to a class size greater than 24 students or for academic events such as InnovateUNO. In all other instances, this room cannot be reserved.

Students may not reserve these classrooms. These rooms are not available to others outside the UNO community.
