The Earl K Long Library has multiple opportunities to support the library by investing in our rooms and programs. We are very proud of our Louisiana and Special Collections Reading Room, the library's exhibit gallery, the meditation zone, and the innovation lab are among many special places in the library.
The Louisiana and Special Collections Reading Room on the 4th floor of the library was completed in 2017. The reading room is an elegant and spacious room designed to give researchers a scholarly space to review the library's archives and manuscript collections. The room offers a beautiful view of the campus and Lake Pontchartrain.
The Earl K. Long Library's 3rd-floor Meditation Zone is a welcoming space for all students and visitors to relax and spend a moment in contemplation. The Meditation Zone has a mindfulness coloring station with coloring sheets and pencils.
The Exhibits Gallery regularly hosts exhibitions on the library archives and manuscript holdings. Recent exhibitions included "Red Squares," which displayed artifacts from New Orleans' old Storyville district, and an exhibit on Civil Rights in New Orleans.
Library faculty and staff offer 3D printing training classes. Students learn the basics of 3D modeling and how to use the library 3D printers.
