Using the UNO Film Archives: Copyright

The Earl K. Long Library Louisiana and Special Collections Department is home to a significant amount of news footage from two local television stations, WVUE and WDSU, primarily from the late 1960s to the early 1980s.

Fair Use and Copyright

Permission to Publish and Issues of Copyright

Researchers assume full responsibility for complying with laws regarding copyright and property rights. This includes requests for reproductions of WDSU and WVUE footage.

For more information please consult the Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17 of the U.S. Code) and guidelines for "fair use" published by the United States Copyright Office.

Permission to examine WDSU or WVUE footage or receipt of reproductions does not constitute permission to broadcast. The publication or use of any such materials beyond the limits of fair use (Section 107, Title 17 of the U.S. Code) must be obtained from WDSU-TV or WVUE-TV

Paying for and receipt of transfers of the WDSU or WVUE footage does not constitute permission to broadcast. Responsibility for obtaining permission to broadcast rests solely with the patron.

Physical rights to the WDSU and WVUE footage are retained by the Earl K. Long Library.
