Summary:                 Meeting minutes, correspondence, and printed ephemera chronicling general university activity, as well as Junior Division history, through the 1970s until the department’s dissolution in the late 1980s. Some papers also contain early information about the administration of the Bachelor of General Studies degree when it was overseen by the Junior Division.

Historical / Biographical Note

Bertram C. Sippola, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Psychology, began his tenure at the University of New Orleans in the 1968-1969 academic year. He served as the Assistant Dean of the Junior Division from 1984-1988, under longtime dean (1964-1988) James W. Ellis, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Mathematics.

Established in 1961, the Junior Division was eliminated in 1988, and its functions were incorporated into other departments.
