DEI at the Earl K Long Library : Vision

Diversity Equity and Inclusion at the UNO Library

As an essential partner in the learning, research, and service mission of the University, the Earl K. Long Library is committed to building an environment of spaces, services, and collections that demonstrate our focus on and care for the issues faced by our students, staff, faculty, and visitors. Diversity is one of New Orleans’ greatest resources and we acknowledge that issues of equity require greater efforts to help move the university and our community forward. We welcome all learners and wish to celebrate their obvious strengths and contributions to our library and university community. The EKL Library policy on collecting research materials now requires a percentage of collections’ funds be directed toward increasing the depth of coverage of DEI topics in our print and electronic library materials every year. We pledge to create more library programming with diverse audiences in mind, online and in-person.  And finally, we strive to create library spaces that are welcoming and useful to the widest variety of library users. We invite your comments on our efforts and solicit suggestions at libref@uno.edu.
