Reserves Services

What are reserves?

Reserves are books and textbooks that are selected by instructors and made available for short-term loans at UNO Library.

For Students

You can see what is on reserve for your courses using our Reserves Search. Use the course name, course code, or your instructor's name to find reserve materials.

If you would like to check out an item on reserve, go to the library Services Desk and provide the course code to a member of staff. They will retrieve the item and check it out to you. Reserve items can only be checked out for three hours, overnight, or three days. Items that can be checked out for three hours cannot leave the library.

For Faculty

Physical Reserves

You can place books, DVDs, and CDs on reserve using our online reserves request form.

Please note that while personal copies of books, DVDs, and CDs can be submitted for use, labels will be placed on your items and wear and tear caused by frequent use is expected. Before placing a reserves request, please read the Reserves Circulation Policy.

Electronic Reserves

You may request scans of book chapters or articles in UNO Library's collection using our Scan on Demand service. Scanned chapters and articles will be delivered as accessible PDF files. Once you have received your scanned items, you can place the file on your Canvas course page. In accordance with United States Copyright Law, we are unable to scan entire books or journal issues.

For more information about copyright, please read the Copyright for Reserves page.
