STUDENT ASSISTANT, LIBRARY TECHNOLOGY
EARL K. LONG LIBRARY, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ORLEANS
SUMMARY: Works under the supervision of the Library Technology Department Staff will be responsible for both maintenance and support for the following: 1.) maintain hardware items such as computers, printers, and related equipment, scanners, laptops, virtual reality equipment. 2.) technical support and assistance related to any software needs by library faculty or staff, university faculty or staff, and students. The position will also provide assistance for other projects in the Earl K. Long Library as assigned. Must be a team worker.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains the cleanliness of equipment used by library staff, students, and public users of the library, which includes all office spaces, labs, study spaces, and public spaces
- Services laptops and inspect 3 times a day
- Performs daily restarts of all student use computers in the Learning Commons
- Maintains and monitors paper and toner levels in the Learning Commons
- Inspects, cleans, and maintains computers and large screen LEDs in all group study room spaces
- Provide classroom assistance to Library Faculty
- Monitor and log all patron counts of public computing spaces in the library on a daily basis
- Provide technical assistance with large and small document scanners
- Assist with receiving and assembling equipment, furniture, and other library-related materials
- Communicates and interacts with patrons to ensure all software needs are being met
- Assists patrons with using Windows 10, university software (WebStar, Moodle, MS Office), and print solutions
- Move heavy and light equipment and furniture as needed
- Perform/maintain daily task duties and assignments
- Must be willing to take on last-minute duties and learn new technologies
- Other duties as assigned to help support Library technology
