Services & Reference Assistant -Training LibGuide: Using Chat

This is an online training guide to help new and returning student workers become more familiar with what to do when working at the Services and/or Reference Desk

Log In for LibChat

To log in, click here.

You can also click "Librarian Login" located at the bottom-right corner of each library webpage.

Using LibChat

After logging in, you may see a screen that says "access denied." Underneath that message will be a link that says, "Home." Click the "Home" link. This will take you to a screen that gives you a list of Spring Share options that you do have access to. Please click "LibAnswers." From there, you will need to click, "Sign in" that is located in the top-right corner. This action will take you to the LibChat screen. 

What you should be able to do. . .

  • Demonstrate a positive, welcoming and friendly attitude when approached by patrons for assistance.
  • Identify, select and search for materials using EBSCO Discovery Service database.
  •  Perform a basic reference interview as defined in the Student Training LibGuide (in person, phone or IM chat).
  • Identify and select topic-relevant LibGuides when assisting patrons.
